Cystic Fibrosis/Erin Hostetler Volleyball Marathon

The annual Volleyball Marathon, a cherished tradition in the Forest Hills School District since 1975, began as a basketball tournament to support the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. It later transitioned to volleyball in honor of students Ronald and Donald Bailey and MaryAnn and Barbara Peters, who were diagnosed with cystic fibrosis and tragically lost their lives to the disease. In 1996, the marathon expanded its purpose to include a scholarship fund in memory of Erin Hostetler, a Class of 1998 student who died of injuries sustained in a car accident.  Erin's untimely passing was September 29, 1996. Erin, the daughter of Nancy and Roger Hostetler of Salix, Pennsylvania, was a cheerleader, National Honor Society member, class officer, and beloved friend with a bright future and hopes of furthering her education at Penn State University.
This event continues to unite the community in remembrance and support for these meaningful causes.
